Color my world

Alessandro and I did some bonding over pancakes at Maccers. Mine's the black Lancer and he owns the blue WRX. We have arguments over whose canon exhaust is bigger.

Nine on the ninth - for April 2009

I went to work this morning and saw my senior colleague setting up an Easter egg hunt for his class.

Then he sent around rosemary for us all to pin on our shirts. We all went into the hall, past the digger's slouch hat, and the World War One helmet in between the Australian and New Zealand flags.

You see, my wonderful colleague had arranged an ANZAC day assembly for us complete with Catafalque Party from the navy.

Then in the afternoon we farewelled my beautiful principal who has retired, and I went home to a piece of comfort pie.

PhotoHunt: hands - Skipping rope in his hands

Earlier this week I heard someone skipping with a skipping rope in the driveway. It was my oldest, Giancarlo - doing some exercise before he went to the Gym.

PhotoHunt: Yellow - Daffodils

I saw spring with my heart today:
A small girl, skipping, came my way.
Her Daddy's smile was on her face,
Her petticoat dripped fresh-torn lace.

A bunch of yellow-gold I spied
Behind her back - Oh woe betide!
Fresh daffodils! "For you," she said.
Plucked from my neighbour's flowerbed.

This poem was written for me by my mother Marcelle Pollington, when I was a little girl in California. The picture is from several years ago - when I was looking at the daffodils at Canberra's Floriade festival.

PhotoHunt: Dinghy Days

My dad and I, way back when...

Dinghy days. Dad was a Major - navigator in Strategic Air Command. Then he retired and we moved to Australia so he could build a 41 foot trimaran in our backyard in Redcliffe, in Brisbane, Queensland in Australia.

This was the dinghy from our yacht, Altair, which came second in the Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race.

My magnolia tree

Just outside my bedroom window:

Flowers feed the soul.
