PhotoHunt: Family - Strategic Air Command

My father, fourth from the left. (Back in the mists of time...)

Motto: Peace is our profession.

We lived on Beale Air Force Base, California, when I was a little girl. Then my father retired and we came to Australia, and he built a 41 foot trimaran. But that's another story.

This is my latest entry.

What a great contribution Leslie to this week's Photo Hunt. It seems like fun but not sure I could keep up with it. Is Beale Air Force Base in the UK? And he built a 41 foot trimaran? How amazing. You must share that story some time. Have you ever regretted moving to Australia do you think? I have German heritage on my Dad's side but strangely I maintain I felt more at home in Italy not Germany. I love the design of this photo setting too. You really are very clever.

Hi Leslie, wonderful theme photo selection. I had no idea that your dad was in the Strategic Air Command before moving to Australia. Thanks so much for sharing that with us.

That is a wonderful photo. I loved your design. That's so neat how the background has the photo on it too! Very cool.

I'm scratching my head wondering how you guys retired and moved to Australia of all places.. Very cool story behind it all. I too used to live in California, just a bit south (2hrs)..

Where's the cool motto from? The particular squadron? Also, from California to Australia: get the feeling that's not a very usual move! :)

What a terrific old photo. Love it (and your scrapbook borrow which is perfect). What a treasure to have. I have a picture of my father when he was in the Navy in WWII packed away somewhere. He was just a teenager then.

Happy Hunting!

This is a really cool kit! It's a great photo to have. We live about 10 minutes from the Army base in Townsville now. Sometimes I think it would be nice if there was on-base accomodation, for that community feel.

Love your take on the theme - the military is a family - no better example of people taking care of one another!

Stop by if you get the chance - I had to be a bit different!
