Lavena Cafe doesn’t open ‘til 10am. Pity I’m two hours early.
The Piazza San Marco glossy cafes don't open until 10 or even later, in the morning. So we have to get our first cappuccino a few blocks away. Then we go and sit on the plastic seats outside the cafes and people watch.

Amazing that those seats are not tied up when the cafe is closed. That's what they have to do over here for others the chairs might be stolen!! Especially such lovely ones.
The last time I was in Venice was 2003, during the awful heatwave. We used to do that thing of getting up early and being active before the heat - and, like you, finding many places shut. But it's a lovely time to wander around. Your post has whetted my appetite to return. :)

We had plenty of plasti cameras of the same vintage that broke down.
I have at least six cameras over forty years old that I use - not plastic though.
