My lemon tree

Journaling:

I stayed with my sister for a weekend recently and was enchanted by her lemon tree in a pot at her front door. When the boys asked what I would like for Christmas this year I thought, “Yes! I know exactly what I would like!”
Giancarlo and I spent the morning together yesterday picking out the perfect tree and a beautiful glazed pot.
We got punnets of petunias to go in terracotta pots in front, and we put my geraniums on either side and the effect, on my front porch, is just charming.
When I look at it, I see... scented blossoms on the lemon tree and cascades of pale purple petunias...

Leslie - I love lemon trees in pots like that and I think it's a great gift idea. It looks fantastic. Sounds like you have lovely, thoughtful sons.

You are such a romantic, Leslie! I just love catching up on your blog! If I fly out, will you fix me a cup of Cappuccino and tell me all about Italy?

Cue music . . .

Lemon tree, very pretty
And the lemon flower is sweet . . .

Then it goes on and accuses the lemon of being "impossible to eat" which you and I, fans of tart sorbets, know is a canard. I am deeply envious of your lemon tree. On my front porch is--yes!--more snow!!

Colour me green with envy - I love lemon trees!! But winters here are way too brutal for me to even consider such a thing...unless they come in mini sizes that would fit in the house.

Lemon trees remind me of Sorrento and this lovely gift will certainly remind you of one of your favorite places in the Belpaese.
