PhotoHunt: Ruins - Fiesole, Italy

These are the Roman ruins up at enchanting Fiesole, above Florence. I took Alessandro up there last October.

It was a beautiful day at the beginning of October when Alessandro and I caught the #7 bus up from Florence to Fiesole. As it wound up the hill we could see the beautiful villas dotting the hillside.

The first thing we did was to have a cappuccino at a cafe, then we went into the Duomo to see the della Robbias.

Lastly, we wandered 'round the small Roman ruins of Fiesole. How beautiful to be with my son, in a place that means so much to me.

This is my latest entry.

Thanks for the info about da Ninos. I know where the campo is but have never noticed the restaurant. Sounds like a great place (and thanks for warning me about the chicken leg, LOL)! I'll have to check it out - I'm always looking for places to eat early so thanks for that tip too.

Hope you're having a nice visit with your sister!

WE once spent a week in Fiesole and caught the Number 7 down to Firenze every day. They have a great roman theatre there as I recall.

Have a happy weekend Leslie

I was going to do a castle ruin but thought of a further island content using my archive.
I could have done some neolithic remains - a burial chamber.

I was lucky enough to visit Fiesole once many years ago. It was a very memorable visit, including my memory of getting off at the wrong bus stop on my return trip back to Florence.

Glad you enjoyed your visit with your mom, your sister, and your nieces.

I fell in love with Fiesole over the course of my one day there.
All those ruins and views and steep, winding roads, gorgeous colours, churches and art...tis a taste of heaven, to be sure! How wonderful that you got to enjoy it with Alessandro.
