They still sell those in some candy stores here and I don't think that is a very good idea, though all the little kids I know scoff at smokes and never buy them. I used to hold mine and pretend I had it lit. And then I ended up smoking at 16...but I seriously doubt the candy had anything to do with that. I had an oral fixation from the get go.

I remember them but my mum never allowed me to have them.
Yes I do! There was this little wood shack candy store in my neighborhood where we kids would go buy candy. Two handful of candy for 25 cents.
Oh yeah, I used to eat AND pretend to smoke those all the time when I was a kid.
I loved them! I felt like a big bad adult pretending to smoke them. They were kind of yummy too.
