PhotoHunt: Pointed - Alessandro, Australian Representative in pool

This is my latest entry. His pool cue is VERY pointed. Pointed: 1. Having an end coming to a point.

STOP PRESS! Alessandro has beaten the current Junior World Champion in the first round of the Junior World Masters! Oh dear, then after that he got beaten. And thus endeth the games.

- He and his friend Brent both won their first match but then were knocked out of the Mens World Masters in the second round.

Next up is the Junior World Masters and the World Masters Plate.

- He is through the first round, he beat someone from India, 7-5. Next round is in 7 hours and I think there is 100 pounds prize money. But - he is up against the 1999 World Mens Masters runner up.

- Crikey! 4.23am the mobile phone rang - "Mum! I'm playing in the Mens World Masters in an hour and a half!"
"Hello, do you KNOW what time it is here!!"
I was a bit cross. Now that I am awake, and it's three hours later, I wonder how he did? I can't find a result on the internet.

- In the Junior World team events, out of 50 players, he ended up with the 10th highest percentage in the world junior teams.
In the upcoming Junior Masters event, he is up against the current Junior World Champion, in the first round. Uh oh!
In the upcoming Mens Masters, there are 400 competitors.

- They beat Northern Ireland. And India. And Malta. This was the junior teams event.
- Sadly, he got knocked out at the final 16 of the Junior World Championship. He was doing well - 5-3, and ended up losing - 6-5. But he did do the best, out of the Australian juniors.
- The play list is up for who is playing whom in the Junior World Masters that starts on Monday! Oh, and yes, the website talks about it being televised - sad me won't be seeing it.
- Crikey! His name is also on the list for the Mens World Masters - right at the very bottom of the page.
- The Australian team just trounced India. Just Northern Ireland to go. I'll have to get the result tomorrow morning.
Alessandro is at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool.
- He has played against the Channel Islands, Malta, Ireland, England and Scotland! He is about to play India, and then Northern Ireland. These have all been "team" events. Um, in these team events, the Australian Junior team beat Malta. As an individual in the team events he has had 8 wins and 7 losses so far.

He is also playing for the title of Junior World Champion! It is a knock out, that began with 64 players. He is one of two Australians in the final 16. Then he has the World Junior Masters and the World Mens Masters still to go. Way to go Alessandro! It's very exciting!

- Just having fun playing non-comp pool for two days. The competition starts either tomorrow or the next day. Funny text message to his brother in the middle of the night, as he was worried that people might be driving his blue Rex while he was away. Well - as it's in my school carpark right at this moment - I would have to say, "Yes, they are!"
- He says it's still daylight at 10pm and he's still playing pool.
- Well, he's in Blackpool, and is playing pool. He starts competition on Tuesday.
- Right now he has arrived in Manchester and is on a bus to go to Blackpool.
- Alessandro (17) is in a plane, nearly at England. I got a call from him last night at Singapore airport - he was in a cafe eating dinner.
And now - have a look at this:

How exciting for him!

You mentioned taking him to the cafe in the basement of the Doge Palace - isn't that a great place? I had a panini there one day - it was delicious! And I loved watching the gondolas cruise by the window.
